Library classes for the Fall 2021!

We are excited to announce upcoming training sessions and special seminars that the library offers this fall.

Online classes

Monthly Training Sessions – Every 2nd Thursday of the month the library offers curated training sessions of selected library resources. They are offered online via Zoom.

  • October 14, 2021 (1 pm to 2 pm) Embase (Newly acquired database!)
    Embase is the comprehensive biomedical research database with unparalleled coverage of the biomedical literature, including information not available in MEDLINE.
    An Embase expert will introduce us to Embase and show us how to efficiently use Embase.

  • November 11th, 2021 (1 pm to 2 pm) SciFinder-n
    SciFinder is the most comprehensive resource available for searching the chemistry literature. It is developed by Chemical Abstracts Service and they recently updated SciFinder to SciFinder-n. The new version SciFinder-n will replace the classic SciFinder very soon.
    We invited SciFinder-n expert for an overview of SciFinder-n to prepare everyone for a smooth transition, as well as introducing new users to SciFinder-n.

  • December 9th, 2021 (1 pm to 2 pm) HS Talks
    HS Talks is a database of world-class lectures by leading authorities from around the globe. We have access to over 2500 specially commissioned, multi-media, online lectures in the Biomedical & Life Sciences Collection. Jennifer Daniel, the Director of The Biomedical & Life Sciences Collection at HS Talks will show how best to use this collection.

  • January 13, 2022 (1 pm to 2 pm) Pharmaprojects
    The Markus Library offers access to Pharmaprojects, a Drug Development Database that can track the global R&D pipeline. We are inviting an expert from Pharmaprojects to show us how Pharmaprojects can support and advance your research. Registration is required. Registration will open later this fall.

In addition to the Fall sessions, we have a big plan to celebrate Open Access Week which is held from October 25th to October 31st this year. Please watch out for our announcement!

And expect a big debut of our brand new service, Systematic Review Assistance! We will kick off our service with a seminar on how to conduct systematic reviews. Again, please watch out for our announcement for this seminar!
