January 16, 2024 – LaTeX/Overleaf. NEW CLASS!
Instructor: Claire Warner, Data Services Specialist, Rockefeller University
LaTeX is a high-quality typesetting system widely used in academia and research for producing documents. Unlike traditional word processors, LaTeX excels at handling complex mathematical equations, references, and bibliographies. It can be used to generate professional-looking theses, resumes, scientific articles, and other documents. In this workshop, we’ll guide you through the basics of LaTeX and introduce you to Overleaf, a collaborative online LaTeX editor.
February 20, 2024 – Reference Management

A Reference Manager helps you keep track of articles and books as you find them, tag and annotate them, and easily create citations and bibliographies in Microsoft Word. A library staff member will introduce you to some of the most popular reference management software to help you find the one you may want to use.
March 19, 2024 – Updates on Read and Publish Agreements at Rockefeller University 2024

The library’s Read and Publish agreements are expanding! We added a few more publishers, including Springer Journals! This means that we can offer you the option to publish your paper as 100% Open access, free of charge to The Rockefeller University authors. We will explain which journals are eligible and how to take advantage of the agreement the library has for you.
April 16, 2024 – NIH Public Access and PubMed Central

The NIH public access policy requires the submission of the final peer-reviewed journal manuscripts that arise from NIH funds to PubMed Central via the NIH Manuscript Submission service (NIHMS) immediately upon acceptance for publication. Our University Librarian, Matt Covey ,and Data Services Specialist, Claire Warner, will go over steps you need to take, and he will show you when and how to comply with this mandated policy.
May 21, 2024 – DMPTool

The DMPTool is a free, open-source, online application that helps researchers create data management plans. The Library has partnered with DMPTool to provide easy access to an easy to use online DMSP generator. Specific guidance for Rockefeller University has been added to DMPTool to assist you in creating your DMSP. In this workshop Matt will show you how to access DMP, and showy how to create a Data Management Plan that will fit your data needs.
June 18, 2024 – Systematic Reviews

A Systematic Review is a research study that attempts to identify, appraise and synthesize all the empirical evidence that meets pre-specified eligibility criteria to answer a specific research question. It is a literature review that uses rigorous, systematic, and transparent methods to minimize bias in the results. This class is designed to give you a step-by-step guide, including tools and resources that you can use to conduct a Systematic Review.
