Happy New Year! Markus Library’s Monthly Training Sessions return and it is scheduled on every 2nd Thursdays of the month from 1pm to 2pm. The library offers curated training sessions of selected library resources and services. They are offered online via Zoom. Training sessions are open to all Rockefeller University employees and affiliates with Rockefeller University ID card. Registration is required. You will learn about the new NIH DMS policy, how it differs from the existing requirements, what you have to do to be compliant with the new policy, how the Library and OSPA can assist you. This new policy comes into effect on January 25th, 2023.

Rie will go over different bibliographic databases, including PubMed, Embase, Scopus, and Web of Science, highlighting coverage and features for each databases, and show you how to determine which databases will yield the best results for your topic.
March 9th, Thursday 1pm to 2pm – Updates on the Library’s Read and Publish agreements and how YOU can use it

The library signed on to Read and Publish agreements with more journal publishers. This means that we can offer you the option to publish your paper as 100% Open access. Rie will explain which journals are eligible and how to take advantage of the agreement the library has for you.
April 13th, Thursday 1pm to 2pm – Reference Managers: Which one is right for you?

A Reference Manager helps you keep track of articles and books as you find them, tag and annotate them, and easily create citations and bibliographies in Microsoft Word. A library staff member will introduce you to some of the most popular reference management software, so that you can find the one you may want to use.
May 11th, Thursday 1pm to 2pm – Introduction to Systematic Reviews

A Systematic Review is is a research study that attempts to identify, appraise and synthesize all the empirical evidence that meets pre-specified eligibility criteria to answer a specific research question. Simply, they are literature reviews that use rigorous, systematic, and transparent methods to minimize bias in the results. Rie will give you a step-by-step guide including tools and resources that you can use to conduct a Systematic Review.
June 8th, Thursday 1pm to 2pm – NIH Public Access and PubMed Central
Instructor: Matt Covey, University Librarian
The NIH public access policy requires the submission of the final peer-reviewed journal manuscripts that arise from NIH funds to PubMed Central via the NIH Manuscript Submission service (NIHMS) immediately upon acceptance for publication. Matt will go over steps you need to take, and he will show you when and how to comply with this mandated policy.
